Ebb and Flow

Ebb & Flow, Sarah R. Bloom and Rosalind Bloom at Da Vinci Art Alliance

Nature reclaims what is hers. Whether by destructive or creative measures, nature repurposes. In the two-woman exhibition, Ebb & Flow, abandoned spaces become renewing entities and collage landscapes become sites of infinite possibilities. Through photographs and mixed media collages, Ebb & Flow celebrates nature’s force and vitality. Sarah R. Bloom’s excursions to abandoned spaces capture growth among the rubble and hope amidst the decay of manmade structures.

Sarah Bloom, How Am I Not Myself?

By exploring these places and staging her photographs, Sarah R. Bloom  forms a sense of kinship with the space and captures the comforting process of the earth reclaiming what is hers. Her photographs form a bridge to Rosalind Bloom’s work which presents natural elements abstracted into beautiful collages, the very work a repurposing of the old. Rosalind Bloom’s  mixed-media collages of nature acknowledge and celebrate nature’s force, its antic energy, and its mystery. She restructures and reclaims the boundaries of the image, while demonstrating the inevitability of the earth reclaiming her space. Ebb & Flow reminds us that we are all here temporarily, and that nature will always prevail.

Rosalind Bloom, A Lovely Day in the Garden

Ebb & Flow will be on view physically by-appointment February 18th – March 7th 2021 at Da Vinci Art Alliance and as a recorded video tour on the Da Vinci Art Alliance website.”

Sarah and I will have the opportunity to speak about the work during the Zoom session. We hope you can join us! Roz

Together

Green Hills Yellow Sky, mixed media by Linda Dubin Garfield

Together, ARTsisters Group Exhibit at Da Vinci Art Alliance

ARTsisters will have a group exhibit  titled Together at Da Vinci Art Alliance, 704 Catharine Street in South Philadelphia from November 17 – 24, 2019. The Opening Reception on November 17, 1:00 -3:00PM, free and open to the public.

Together is a group exhibition by the ARTsisters, an organization of professional artists in the Philadelphia area who empower each other and the community through art. They collaborate on upcoming shows, and work with nonprofit organizations to give back to their community. The ARTsisters are united through their common goals of commitment to making art, dedication to inspiring each other and sharing knowledge, showing new work, and dedication to community artists.

In 2005 Linda Dubin Garfield realized that her long-time friend and fellow artist Leslie DeBrocky functioned as more than a friend when it came to art— she was really an ARTsister, one who knew the process and understood the challenges of a professional artist. Together they created ARTsisters. It is their belief that the collective energy generated, motivated and inspired by professional women artists creates synergy.  They share their creative spirit to benefit the community through exhibitions, special projects, workshops and art donations.

The ARTsisters are: Ellen Abraham, Sandra Benhaim, Priscilla Bohlen, Edwina Brennan, Ginny Conniver, Marge Feldman, Linda Dubin Garfield, Linnie Greenberg, Jenn Hallgren, Louise Herring, Rachel Isaac, Mary Kane, Karen Liebman, Sandi Neiman Lovitz, Laurie Lamont Murray, Marjie Lewis Quint, Elynne Rosenfeld , Monique Sarkessian, Edna Santiago, Deb K Simon, Susan Stefanski, Nancy Freeman Tabas, Blanche Levitt Torphy, Marcia Goldner Treiger, and Florence Weisz.

Jessica Libor, Da Vinci Art Alliance

Enjoy original artwork and creative networking at this unique event.
See Jessica Libor’s new pieces in her solo exhibition “Nature’s Daughters,” on view for one night only at the Da Vinci Art Alliance on Wednesday, September 4th from 5-8pm. Celebrate women with Jessica’s art and also with networking expert Jennifer Lynn Robinson. Men are also welcome to attend!

“I want to show the glamour of nature. Whenever I am outdoors in the wild, I feel the most beautiful and free. I don’t think I am alone in this experience. What I wanted to do was show this feeling visually. I want people to be swept away in a gorgeous fantasy of the absolute magic that nature weaves sometimes. I painted women because it felt like a natural expression of nature—like the earth, the feminine can have many sides to it, can bring forth new life, and often express their beauty by decorating themselves…something I am interested in drawing a correlation with.”

Jessica Libor graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 2014 and has been painting, curating and writing since. Find out more at www.jessicalibor.com.

At 7 PM, Jessica will say a few words about the artwork, and Jennifer Lynn Robinson, Esquire of Purposeful Networking will provide her 5 best tips for women to network more strategically. You will also be able to ask Jennifer your networking questions one on one. Find out more at https://www.purposefulnetworking.com/.

There will be light bites and drinks provided. This event is free for all and open to the public! Registration is encouraged.

Reverberations

Artists’ Talk at Cerulean Arts Gallery

Andrea Krupp, Cerulean Arts Gallery

Saturday, March 16 at 1:00. Lisa Sylvester and Andrea Krupp will be chatting about the work on display in Reverberations. If you haven’t had a chance to stop by, a visit is recommended. There is a real feeling of reverberation between the works in the gallery. It’s a visually striking pairing, as many have commented, and I agree – Tina and Mike did an excellent job curating this exhibit. It closes on March 24. – Andrea Krupp

The quote above is from an essay Andrea Krupp wrote for Reverberations, a jumping off point for the Artists’ Talk on Saturday perhaps.

And a Bonus! Right next door, the Cerulean Arts Collective opens a new round of solo exhibitions on the same day, from 2:00 – 5:00pm.

Andrea Krupp’s artist’s book Transmission from Elsewhere (pictured below) was selected for the Wayne Art Center Regional Spring Open, juried this year by Stuart Shils. The opening is on Sunday, March 31, 3:00 – 5:00 pm and runs through May 4th.
