“Philadelphia artists like me are thriving in their careers by using a creative approaches to marketing their artwork and funding their projects. I am leveraging the popularity of the well-established Philadelphia Open Studio Tours program to bring new audiences to Twenty-Two Gallery. I have designed special POST weekend events, all free and open to the public. Your audience will want to know!

I used Kickstarter for two successful fundraising and client-base-building campaigns in 2013 and 2014. The woodcut that I am offering at the business card drawing is one of my 2014 Kickstarter “rewards”. Most artists cannot depend on just gallery sales to make a sustainable living as an artist.   Most artists need to think outside-the-box to create opportunities for themselves.   I think it would make a great segment. Thanks for your consideration!” – Andrea Krupp

“Visit during POST Weekend, October 11 and 12, and and receive special discounts on every piece in Andrea Krupp‘s exhibition. Take $50 off framed artwork over $300, $20 off framed artwork under $300. Purchase an unframed piece and get 15% off professional framing by B and K Fine Arts. Also, enter to win a hand-printed, limited edition color woodcut, every visitor is eligible, just stop in and drop your card in the box.”

Philadelphia Open Studio Tours, a program of The Center for Emerging Visual Artists, is the largest tour of artist studios and creative workspaces in the region and one of the premier open studio tour events in the country. Join us for the 15th Anniversary Party on Thursday October 9! This milestone Tour season also includes weekend self-guided tours East and West of Broad Street from Noon to 6pm; a series of special events; and Guided Trolley ToursNeed more info on how to navigate the Tour? “Synthesis” is a series of large scale pigment prints created by combining darkroom chemistry with more exotic elements in solutions and using a 4×5 view camera to photograph the often unpredictable reactions that unfold. The resultant images are gestural, calligraphic forms whose textures and fractal-like patterns are reminiscent of the endlessly repeating structures in nature that exist on multiple scale levels from the sub-atomic to the universal; a reflection of the complex architecture of our universe.”

John Singletary is a Philadelphia based photographer who trained formally at Drexel University and the Community College of Philadelphia and has exhibited work in the Pennsylvania State Museum, The Center for Fine Art Photography, The Photo Review, University of the Arts Gallery 1401, The Seeds Gallery, The Perkins Center for the Arts and other venues.
