“New Work”, an Open Studio event, November 5th   & 6th , 2016

The studios will be open from 11:00am – 5:00pm daily at 1448 Street Road, New Hope, Pa.

Opening Reception: Saturday, November 5th, 6 – 9:30pm

Kirby Fredendall is a formally trained artist who attended Duke University. Her new body of work depicts recent landscapes inspired by Friend’s Lake in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. These images represent a dramatic departure for Fredendall who has been successfully showing her abstractions for many years.

For Kirby Fredendall,  “The visual drama of the lake is never the same. Multiple conditions of light created by the time of day and the weather create textures in the water, patterns in the clouds, and juxtapositions of color that vibrate with one another to form a compelling visual and highly personal experience.  Fredendall additionally “enjoys the manipulation of paint and how that process in itself contributes to the life and form of the final image.” These images represent her interest in the beautiful and ever changing landscape of upstate New York.

Raised in Carversville, PA, Kirby Fredendall has taught painting, drawing, and design for 23 years at Solebury School, and now also teaches from her home, Glendale Art Studio.

Alex Damevski is a Yugoslavian photographer who immigrated to the United States. He attended Syracuse University and later attended Temple University for his graduate work.

Memories around photography as a child in a new country inspired Alex Damevski deeply and the affinity for photography has never left him  – from pressing the shutter, to developing the film, to his current use of digital photography.

On his work Alex Damevski states: “When I look at a subject or a scene that I am going to photograph I frame it in my mind and think about things that have influenced me. A painting, a song ,a memory , or a person. The image I capture makes me revisit these thoughts and hopefully causes the same reaction in the viewer.”

4 Towns 4 Art 20154 Towns 4 Art 2015, 3rd Annual Open Studio Tour Features 27 artists, 8 South Jersey Towns Represented

Saturday, April 11, 11:00am – 5:00pm

South Jersey artists share inspirations with their neighbors 4 Towns 4 Art, founded by Haddon Township fiber artist Jennifer Talarico, presents the third annual Open Studio Tour. Eight South Jersey towns are highlighted: Barrington, Collingswood, Haddonfield, Haddon Heights, Haddon Township, Merchantville, Oaklyn, and Pennsauken with 27 artists participating. Studio disciplines include painting, ceramics, fiber arts, drawing/illustration, photography, sculpture, mosaic, collage, and leather work.

“For the past two years, we have concentrated on educating the community about the ‘open studio tour’ concept,” Talarico explains. “We are now going into our third year with the momentum of name recognition, increased attendance, and strong sales. There has been a learning curve, but this community is truly embracing its artists and we couldn’t be happier.”

Painter Maria Christopher has shared her SoHA studio on the Tour, and says, “When 4 Towns 4 Art began, it kick started a conversation about art-making in this region. Each year the conversation continues and becomes richer and more interesting.”

Haddonfield artist Missy Schwartz hopes opening her studio for the second straight year will continue the back-and-forth flow of inspiration. “It is exciting for people to actually see where and how I make my art. Artists generally experience a lot of solitude, so it is fun for us to share about our process and hear creative feedback,” she says.

4+Towns 4 Art:
2nd Annual Open Studio Tour
Featuring 25 artists in Southern New Jersey
Saturday, April 5, 2014, 11am – 5pm
South Jersey community invited into artist studios to learn about the creative process. Artists collaborate to present original works for sale to the public.

4+ Towns 4 Art, founded by Haddon Township fiber artist Jennifer Talarico, presents the second annual Open Studio Tour. Showcasing artists in four towns in 2013, the Studio Tour has doubled in size for 2014. Eight towns are highlighted — Barrington, Collingswood, Haddonfield, Haddon Heights, Haddon Township, Merchantville, Oaklyn, and Pennsauken — with 25 artists participating. Studio disciplines include painting, ceramics, fiber arts, drawing/illustration, photography, sculpture, mosaic, collage, leather work, and book art.

4+ Towns 4 Art is a celebration of visual art in the South Jersey community. With a mission to give local, independent artists a platform from which to share their creative process with the community in which they live, 4+ Towns 4 Art intends to encourage the financial support of those artists by presenting their work for sale directly out of their studios.

Talarico says, “One of the joys I got out of last year’s tour was to see the artists’ enthusiasm for sharing their spaces with the public. One of them even had an addition built onto her back yard shed. Naturally she wanted to enlarge her work space, but it was also important to her to make it more accessible. The Studio Tour is every bit as inspiring for the artists as it is for the public!”

Addresses of participating artists:
