Shifting Representations of Queer Identities
January 18th – 29th, 2017

This call is open to LGBTQ artists working in all mediums.
Work submitted must address personal, private, and public perceptions of the queer self and may also reflect on how these have historically changed over time. We are excited to have juror Craig Bruns, artist and Chief Curator at the Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia as the juror for the show.

Deadline to submit is Saturday, January 7th, 2017, mid-night 
Submissions coming in after the deadline will not be accepted.
Notification of Acceptance Thursday, January 8th 2017

  • APPLICATION FEE IS $20 FOR MEMBERS AND $30 FOR NON-MEMBERS.  FEE COVERS MULTIPLE SUBMISSIONS WHICH ARE ENCOURAGED.
  • SMALL WORKS ENCOURAGED GIVEN POTENTIAL LIMITS OF GALLERY SPACE.
  • DIGITAL WORK ACCEPTED INCLUDING VIDEO.
  • NO PERFORMANCE ART SUBMISSIONS GIVEN LIMITS OF GALLERY SPACE.

In the body of an email: Please include: For each jpeg- Artist’s Name, phone number, title, size, medium, price, and a short description of how the work fits into the exhibition ‘s theme. Number this info to match your images. All Jpegs should be 72 dpi and 2500 pixels max on longest dimension.

Call for Entry, The Philadelphia Sketch Club Benefit Open Juried Art Show

Please join us for our next The Philadelphia Sketch Club Annual Benefit Open Juried Art Show to benefit a local non-profit organization. This is an open juried show by The Philadelphia Sketch Club to benefit The Philadelphia Urban Creators, open to all artists. The exhibition will be on view in our historic main gallery in center city, Philadelphia. PSC medals will be awarded during the artist reception. The Philadelphia Sketch Club is the oldest artist club in the US, founded in 1860.

The Philadelphia Urban Creators is a youth and community driven organization that inspires inner-city neighborhoods to transform neglected landscapes into food hubs, social enterprises, and models of urban sustainability. We are change makers; story-tellers, urban farmers, dot connecters, movement builders, and innovators, cultivating knowledge, skills, and local resources to take the health of our communities into our own hands. We engage diverse networks in neighborhood revitalization efforts that build self-sufficiency and pioneer grass-roots economic development, while igniting a unified generation of passionate change agents, social entrepreneurs, and urban creators.- http://phillyurbancreators.org/

ELIGIBLE WORKS:
– Any 2 dimensional works utilizing any media.
– Maximum allowed size is 44 inches on any one side including frame.
– All submitted works must be offered for sale during the exhibition.
– All works must be framed and wired and ready for hanging. Improperly framed pieces will be rejected.
– PSC will assess a 35% commission on all sales.
– Maximum 5 works allowed per entry.
– Maximum two works accepted per entry to be shown in the gallery.
– All works of an ‘Accepted’ artist will be shown for sale in our free Philadelphia Sketch Club Online Gallery.

AWARDS:
PSC medals will be awarded. Awards include First, Second , Third Place Award, 3 Honorable Mentions.

DEADLINE: Sunday. May 24, 2015 at Midnight

FEES: PSC Members: $15 for 1st TWO entries, then $5 for additional entries up to 5 entries.
Non-Members: $30 for TWO entries, then $10 for additional entries up to 5 entries. You can pay via credit card or paypal.

NOTIFICATION: June 2, 2015
You will be notified via email of our jurors decision. You can also check our website.

DELIVERY OF ACCEPTED WORKS: Friday and Sat June 12 and 13 (1-5 PM) at PSC.
If you are accepted, then you must deliver your work(s) to The Philadelphia Sketch Club.
You may also ship your works via a carrier. You must provide prepaid return postage. Ship to the address below.

Interpretations

seasonal3The Art Gallery at Franklin Commons will be holding its Seasonal Interpretations Art Exhibition, starting with the Opening Reception on November 8, 1-4pm.  The exhibit will run from Nov 8-Dec 27. Take part in celebrating the fall, winter & holiday seasons. Various mediums will be represented in this unique, industrial, multi-use building.   The exhibition will be accompanied by a musical artist to support all types of art.

Requirements:

  • Artwork must be framed, wired and ready to be hung by time of submission (excluding finished edges such as a canvas). No sawtooth hangers or clip frames.
  • Artwork must be exhibition ready.
  • Artists are invited to submit 2-4 works (hand-delivery only)
  • As we are a family-friendly building, nudity and/or graphic work will not be accepted.
  • All work must be labeled with provided descriptions.
  • By signing the form, the Artist is agreeing to all conditions set forth.
  • Cost to submit is $5 total.
  • During the Opening Reception only, 3D artists may exhibit their small & fragile work.

Agreement Dates: (Drop-off & pick-up will be held in The Art Gallery at Franklin Commons, accessed from Main Lot)

  • 10/31/14 – Submission of artwork between 12pm-5pm
  • 11/1/14 – Submission of artwork between 9am-1pm

Main Line Art Center

We are excited to offer a new opportunity at Main Line Art Center for contemporary artists that includes $1000, a solo show, and the Meyer Family Award for Contemporary Art.

Presented by Main Line Art Center in conjunction with the Betsy Meyer Memorial Exhibition, the Meyer Family Award for Contemporary Art and associated exhibition program is an effort to support the talented contemporary artists in the region, to honor deserving artists in the field, and to encourage excellence and experimentation in artistic practice, presentation, and community involvement.  Adult fine artists, who are not full time students, living in the Mid-Atlantic Region are eligible to apply. All mediums are welcome.  Artists selected to receive this award will be notified in December 2014 and the exhibition will take place in March/April 2015.

Approximately three artists are awarded annually.  The 2014 recipients of the Meyer Family Award for Contemporary Art were Nic Coviello, Tim Portlock, and Jenny Thwing.

James Oliver Gallery will be hosting this year’s ARTnude event and show on October 18th, 2014 from 5:00 – 11:00PM. We are currently accepting submissions to contribute to this year’s exhibit:

“ARTnude Philly’s donations will be going towards the Abramson Cancer Center Patient Special Needs Fund, which supports cancer patients and families who are in financial need as a result of their diagnosis and treatment. The nurse navigators and social workers use this fund to help pay for necessities such as parking and taxi vouchers, septa tokens, medications not covered by insurance, meals for families accompanying patients to treatment, popsicles for patients to have during chemotherapy, household bills and other living expenses. Donations from ARTnude Philly would help increase the funds available to meet the demand of these patients and families, and provide larger awards to those who are in need of financial assistance.”
