Reunion

SAGE Reunion TourALL NEW WORK by David Foss, Don Kaiser, Heather Rachel Phillips, Henry Bermudez, Jon Manteau, Michelle Marcuse, Nic Coviello, Raphael Fenton-Spaid, Robert Solomon and Vincent Romaniello

SAGE REUNION TOUR

BLAM Projects Brooklyn
Opening reception: 6 to 9pm, Friday, October 7
Show runs through October 30, 2016
Hours: 11am to 6pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday

BLAM Projects 56 Bogart Street, Brooklyn, NY 11206

The Sage Reunion Tour will bring together 10 of the original members, each showing how their work has evolved since their Philadelphia project space closed in 2009. A variety of media are planned including: painting, sculpture, photography, performance, banners and video.

About Sage Projects
In late 2008 a group of Philadelphia artists organized visits to each other’s studios. Many of the artists enjoyed the tours and other artist’s work so much that they wanted to take the group a step further.

The perfect opportunity to form a cooperative came in early 2009 when the US economy crashed leaving many small businesses in dire straits. A team of business leaders in a popular tourist area, known as South Street, put out a call asking for arts groups to occupy vacant storefronts, cost free, in the hopes of bringing life back to the area. That’s when David Foss, artist and director of DaVinci Art Alliance, and Vincent Romaniello applied for and got the green light on a 2,000 sq ft, two story, empty storefront.

During the run of Sage Projects over 250 artists, musicians, filmmakers and other artists were given the opportunity to share the space and to bring their work to a wider audience.

Performance Information
Conceptual Punk-a-Rock-a-Billy-Blues ensemble MagicCarpet ManCave will be
performing both original compositions and covers during the opening reception on Friday,
October 7, between 6-9pm during the exhibition reception.

As a mixed race artist Heather Raquel Phillips takes her experience of marginality to
create spaces for bodies using personal story telling and attempted acrobatic feats. Phillips, along with musicians Meg Widholm and Mike Woloszczuk, will be performing on Saturday, October 22, at 8pm during the Exchange Rates expo.

4 Towns 4 Art

4 Towns 4 Art 20154 Towns 4 Art 2015, 3rd Annual Open Studio Tour Features 27 artists, 8 South Jersey Towns Represented

Saturday, April 11, 11:00am – 5:00pm

South Jersey artists share inspirations with their neighbors 4 Towns 4 Art, founded by Haddon Township fiber artist Jennifer Talarico, presents the third annual Open Studio Tour. Eight South Jersey towns are highlighted: Barrington, Collingswood, Haddonfield, Haddon Heights, Haddon Township, Merchantville, Oaklyn, and Pennsauken with 27 artists participating. Studio disciplines include painting, ceramics, fiber arts, drawing/illustration, photography, sculpture, mosaic, collage, and leather work.

“For the past two years, we have concentrated on educating the community about the ‘open studio tour’ concept,” Talarico explains. “We are now going into our third year with the momentum of name recognition, increased attendance, and strong sales. There has been a learning curve, but this community is truly embracing its artists and we couldn’t be happier.”

Painter Maria Christopher has shared her SoHA studio on the Tour, and says, “When 4 Towns 4 Art began, it kick started a conversation about art-making in this region. Each year the conversation continues and becomes richer and more interesting.”

Haddonfield artist Missy Schwartz hopes opening her studio for the second straight year will continue the back-and-forth flow of inspiration. “It is exciting for people to actually see where and how I make my art. Artists generally experience a lot of solitude, so it is fun for us to share about our process and hear creative feedback,” she says.

The third annual Open Studio Tour is free and open to the public. All members of the community are welcome to visit the studios on Saturday, April 11, 2015, from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Artists will be demonstrating, displaying, and selling their creations. A map and complete listing of artists and locations is available at www.facebook.com/4Towns4Art.

4 Towns for Art
4+Towns 4 Art:
2nd Annual Open Studio Tour
Featuring 25 artists in Southern New Jersey
Saturday, April 5, 2014, 11am – 5pm
South Jersey community invited into artist studios to learn about the creative process. Artists collaborate to present original works for sale to the public.

4+ Towns 4 Art, founded by Haddon Township fiber artist Jennifer Talarico, presents the second annual Open Studio Tour. Showcasing artists in four towns in 2013, the Studio Tour has doubled in size for 2014. Eight towns are highlighted — Barrington, Collingswood, Haddonfield, Haddon Heights, Haddon Township, Merchantville, Oaklyn, and Pennsauken — with 25 artists participating. Studio disciplines include painting, ceramics, fiber arts, drawing/illustration, photography, sculpture, mosaic, collage, leather work, and book art.

4+ Towns 4 Art is a celebration of visual art in the South Jersey community. With a mission to give local, independent artists a platform from which to share their creative process with the community in which they live, 4+ Towns 4 Art intends to encourage the financial support of those artists by presenting their work for sale directly out of their studios.

Talarico says, “One of the joys I got out of last year’s tour was to see the artists’ enthusiasm for sharing their spaces with the public. One of them even had an addition built onto her back yard shed. Naturally she wanted to enlarge her work space, but it was also important to her to make it more accessible. The Studio Tour is every bit as inspiring for the artists as it is for the public!”

Addresses of participating artists:

The Second Annual Open Studio Tour is free & open to the public. All members of the community are welcome to visit the studios on Saturday, April 5, 2014, from 11am to 5pm. Artists will be demonstrating and displaying their creations. There will be an artist reception following the Tour at: EilandArts Gallery, 21 S. Centre St., Merchantville from 5:30pm – 8pm.
